Pianogrillo is situated in Southern Sicily, neighbors to the now famous Ariana Occhipiniti estate. The vines here sit on the tallest hill in the area at 3,000ft elevation, once utilized as a lookout for pirates and invaders. The soil here is intensely sandy and granitic giving the wines a great mineral character. Grecanico is actually the same grape as Garaganega (used in Soave) but here it shows a really nice balances of ripe yellow peach, vibrant acidity, and a delicately salty finish.
