Islay Mist was created in honor of Lord Margadale in 1927 who was looking for an Islay whiskey that had a little more lightness, delicacy than the traditional Islay single malts. Malt whisky from the Laphroaig distillery was blended with a range of Highland and Speyside malts before being balanced with Lowland grain whisky. He then selected the blend he liked the best and declared this to be ‘pure Islay Mist’.
