La Gritona is an entirely woman-run distillery in the heart of Valle de Guadalupe, Jalisco. Master distiller, Melly Barajas, will only use fully mature agave plants from the local highlands, and always picked at the peak of their sugar production. Their tequila is aged for 8 months in used American whiskey barrels and they never use any additives (as many large Tequila productions do). The glass bottles are handblown from recycled glass from a glassblower near the distillery, and any agave waste is given to local farmers to feed their cattle.
